[RL with Rose, the Bloody Hook in Kras City]

((Forward-dated to the very end of the alignment virus))

The Bloody Hook was, surprisingly enough, mostly a racers' bar. In the last year or so Jak had achieved quite a bit of fame on Kras City's racetracks, so he'd secured an out-of-the-way booth that people weren't likely to look into.

Of course, in Kras City, it was usually wise not to take an interest in anything shady in case the people involved decided to take an interest in you. Specifically in conjunction with the sharp objects that a lot of them seemed to be named after.

Jak was watching the door, waiting for Rose to arrive. He had a fairly good idea of what she'd look like from her icons, but he'd never met her in person, so he was watching carefully. Then again, anyone without the long, pointed ears that were common in Jak's world would probably be fairly conspicuous.

"I remember seeing that." Rose found her glove and up them on quickly. "I was lucky not to be affected by that one."

She picked up his jacket and held it out to him, still not looking at him. "I'm sorry. I wish our first meeting face to face would have been under better circumstances..."

Jak took the jacket, trying not to look at Rose. "Thanks. So, um. The person who brought you here's probably gone by now, isn't he? What are you gonna do about a place to stay tonight?"

Rose shrugged and moved to the other side of the room, away from Jak. "I'll try and see if I can get someone the worldhop me back to my world tonight. Until then, I guess I'll just lay low around town."

"Right. Uh." Jak paused in the doorway and glanced back at her. "If you need somewhere to stay, I was headed back to Haven City. So, I mean, we could probably find somewhere to put you up for the night there." Split in two by a war zone and a ruined palace or not, Haven was still probably a safer place to spend the night than Kras.

Rose looked up at him a bit surprised at the offer. "Are you sure that's wise? Especially after what happened?"

"I didn't mean in the same place!" Jak said quickly. "It's just that, well, Kras City isn't the best neighborhood to fall asleep in. Haven's big, it oughta be easy to find somewhere..."

"I know what you meant Jak," Rose said, remaining calm. "I also know how to take care of myself and to stay out of trouble. Rough places like this do not bother me. Besides, I wasn't planning on sleeping."

Jak shrugged. "Alright, well, if you're sure. Uh. See you around, I guess?"

Rose nodded to him as she leaned back against a wall. "See you, Jak. Now go back to Keira."

Jak nodded. "Right. 'Bye, Rose." As he left, he mused that he really wasn't looking forward to explaining himself to the others, even leaving out this last little incident.

As soon as the door closed, Rose pulled out the wingly device from a pouch on her belt, and started working on getting a message for a worldhop.
